Training Standards v0.02

(It was interesting to receive such on the list feedback. If there are any
of you out there who have ideas and are hesitant to post to the list, please
feel free to send me mail directly)

Take a look at the all the training institutes around you. They are all
offering PC/Windows based training. Operator Level, DTP, Multimedia,
Programming, Internet, everything is based on a PC running Windows. Look at
the cybercafes, they are running Windows, look at the supermarket near you,
they are running DOS/Windows.

Why can't they run Linux? What would it take to get them to run Linux?
What would it take to get an ordinary user with FAS and Word Processing
requirements to switch to Linux? What would it take to get enough people
trained at operator levels? What should be taught to them?

None of these people have hi-fi networking, print server and other such
sophisticated needs. What they need is a simple software solution that wont
take much to setup and operate, and trouble shooting assistance would always
be at hand.

Again, the intention is just to kick off the discussion. Add your points or
your opinion. It is a tough fight, and we need an MKTG dept. as much as a
TECH dept.

regards.
