Hello Raja,

Take a look at, X window System Programming, by Nabajyoti Barkakati.
This is PHI India, book.  The first part gives excellent introduction to
what you are looking for and makes good reading.  Later parts describe
programming and the appendices have good reference material on the Xlib
functions, errors, X protocol requests et. al.
