This is how u have to confihure u'r modem

go to /dev directory
make a symbolic link to the port in which u'r modem is connected
in the name modem
(e.g) ln -s cua1 modem
then change the group to uucp
chgroup modem uucp
now start u'r minicom dialer
it will initialize the modem
if u try to connect to initernet in shell account,remove initialisation line
in minicom and just keep it as "at"
this is because it will say "no dial tone"
now give the "at" command
(eg)atdp2368560
connet to the net and enjoy
