Many people here will tell you to use Emacs or mutt, both of which
handle PGP 5.0 well :-)

I once spent significant amounts of time and energy trying to make the
PGP support in kmail MIME compliant. But kmail is being completely
rewritten by its author and being dubbed kmail2.
In the meanwhile there is competition in the form of Empath.
