Not true. The MediaGX is very much supported by Xfree86 3.3.3.1:

RedHat Linux 6.0 ships with XFree 3.3.3.1, and RedHat Linux 5.2 off the PCQ
March 1999 CD will have 3.3.3.1 installed after you run the pcqupdt script.
