Respawning too fast

Hi all,
Im in a problem. Yesterday i was trying to install star office and i didn't
have all the glibc libraries installed so i followed instructions for
installation of glibc lib from star office setup which told,
1) invoke /bin/sh
2) type . ./soprep for installation of glibc lib
but then installation exited saying u have some previous version of lib and
it could create preoblem, so i uninstalled it by kpackages and proceded with
installation but it didn't proceeded. saying command not found

i tried to log out but instead of showning login prompt it told me
respawning too fast and it's disabled for 5 minutes
i waited for soem time and rebooted the system

Now after mounting VFS file system it stops for a long time
What's wrong, please help me im in a fix
I have RH5.2 and was trying star office 5.1
