Powertweak HOWTO.

Hello: Listers may have noted the availability of a package 'Power Tweak'
for Linux on Freshmeat of today. This is a must have package and for
enhanced functionality U should have also installed the Linux PCI utilities
by Martin Mares http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~mj/pciutils.html

Powertweak for Linux is a project by Dave Jones and has just begun. The
package is available for download at http://linux.powertweak.com/
Listers are advised to have this package and to install the binary, for a
noticeable performance increase.

Powertweak HOWTO:

The 'powertweak' binary after compiling is placed under /sbin by the 'make
install' script. To install and setup this tweak, root access is a must.
On a Debian GNU/Linux system the binary is called up at boot time, towards
the end. The binary should be made to get up after the starting up of all
the daemons. To achieve this, pop in a shell script in /etc/rc.boot like
what I have, '4PowerTweak' which looks like

#!/bin/sh
/sbin/powertweak

when U see it thru an editor. This '4PowerTweak' is set exec. Reboot and
login. Go to /var/log and look out for a file 'powertweak.log'. If U have
one, read it to examine the level of tweaking achieved by 'powertweak'.
Is'nt it like magic ?

Download the source and start tweaking now !!
