Nope, RedHat's RPM system does not delete or overwrite config files. If the
new version of the program cannot use the existing config file, it will save
it with the extension .rpmsave.

The DNS stuff you do not have to worry about since RHL6 uses the same
program and config files of the RHL5.2 DNS. In fact, my RHL5.2 office server
here upgraded to RHL6 without any fuss and continued to use all my settings
as before.
