HI all,
I guess my mail looks confusing to everybody, Actaully what i mean by
saying ping eth0 is ping the IP address of eth0 ie 196.12.46.180 for eth0
and 196.12.46.179 for eth1
Actually i have configured both the cards with all the IP address and
subnet masks.(Including the IRQ and base address ) The very fact that when
i issue ./ifconfig i can see eth0 and eth1 configuration now after this
when i ping the IP address of each card i have problem which i mentioned in
my earlier mail or its given below.
Because of this my routing table also is not coming properly.
I hope i am clear now ,Hoping an early reply from u all
Thanx
venkat

Subject: Two ethernet cards
Hi Linux Gurus,
Excuse me if this has already been discussed earlier.
I am running linux 5.2 on IBM PC 300 GL with 32 MB RAM. I have two
ethernet cards ( Intel ether Express pro 10/100 PCI). The system is able to
detect both the cards, but they are not working simultaneosly. Like at any
point of time I am able to ping only one card.
I have two cards eth0 (196.12.46.180) and eth1 (196.12.46.179) ,
After starting the system,
when i ping eth0 (196.12.46.180) , I am getting "Reply from...."
response.
But when I say ping eth1 (196.12.46.179) , there is NO response ,
Now,
when i bring down eth0 by ifdown eth0, and then ping eth1
(196.12.46.179) its pinging ,
but when i try to ping eth0 (196.12.46.180) its not giving any
response.
Please help me out !!!!!!!!!!
Regards
Venkat
