Intel i740 Configuration

hi all,

i've an Intel i740 AGP card (3D) and a ViewSonic 15 " monitor (E653).

i've problem in configuring xwindows. irrespective of the 8 mb
vram, the system doesn't recognise it.
the display mode i get is only 320X200 and that too only a corner
of the display is visible.

can somebody help me out on this ?
