All your SMTP traffic is handled by the Sendmail Daemon. Run the setup
utility and see if sendmail is checked. I think it is checked by default
that is it is up and running by default. To check for yourself....
give the following command
telnet localhost 25
if u r connected and get a response from the Sendmail daemon as something
like ( Sendmail version etc. etc. ready..... then you have the SMTP daemon
up and running.
If you are using a dialup connection to the net and want to exchange mails
to the outer world using this SMTP server then u would have to do some
tweaking with the sendmail.cf file in /etc directory, details of which can
be mailed to you by me or u can find it dorectly on PCQUEST's site.
