Re: UNIX & Windows...????

Hi,

There are certain things called marketforces....your video card may work
under Win9x b'coz some company bothered to write a driver to work with
it....as that is the only way to sell anything in the Wintel
world.....there are commerical X-servers on Linux...go ahead and pay for
it, you may see a few cards better supported.

If you have everything up-and-running under Win9x within 30 minutes...u are
definitely one of the few luckier ones....If it is all that easy and
smooth, how came people still have run to tech-support helplines so often
or look for support elsewhere......?? Definitely that must be the hallmark
of an "extremely-easy-OS" And what about the "circus" which one has to
perform every 2 -3 months of re-installing Windows to keep the things
running properly??

Besides, the Linux installation process has been getting smoother, better
and user-friendly with each new release.....and improving very fast....

Sure, to drive a car you don't need to know about the components inside...u
can always take it to the neighbourhood garage/mechanic......but think what
may happen if it breaks down on the side of a highway with not a repair
shop in close proximity...had you taken the bother to look inside the car
before, you might have been able to help yourself, fix it and drive on
again.....
