Installation of Postgress

Hi

I have installed Red hat linux.  How to install postgress in it?  In Runlevel editor I selected
the option 'Add Postgress'. and invoked postgress in the prompt.  But it is saying PGData,
PGDirectory environment variable not found. What should be done for this?
