Clustering with linux

Hi,
I was wondering what clustering with Linux is exactly? Anyone care to 
elighten me on the subject. I've been reading a lot about it from the 
mailing list, but if someone could exactly explain as to how can a end user 
like me benefit from it? What is it exactly?
