Actually, loss of market share *was* responsible for the decision, but
Thaths' point was that the idea was discussed much before Netscape
"lost" the browser war i.e. the market share fell below 50%.

AOL was clearly the king maker then, and may be even now :)

Also, the availability of Netscape for Linux was another key factor
in Linux's success. Imaginze using Mosaic for surfing. Wait, that
makes it, GNU/Netscape/Linux ? :)
