As secure as sending anything on the net ever is. In answer to your
first query - Your login process takes place over https - so you are
safe from script kiddes for sure. What Hotmail cant protect you is from
the guy sitting next to you who might look at your keyboard while you
chug around at 5 characters per min typing your password. Or from the
FBI who suddenly might get interested in reading your emails and go
knocking on Hotmails doors. Microsoft will gladly make a copy of all
emails you send out and receieve at your Hotmail address. If they are
really pissed off they might even want Microsoft to makea few changes
and trap your password while you are logging in. Hotmail or any web
based email service I would guess wont store unencrypted password but it
certainly doesnt stop anyone to rig the logging process to trap your
password while you are trying to log on.
