This reminds me of another initiative underway. Microsofts Java
Migration Initiative. This involves tools for converting Java byte
codes to M$ new C#. Infact, Methods and Tools points out, M$ new Java
strategy is "No more Java".

RMS has always been a bigot in these matters. When gcc can be compiled
into a cross-compiler and be used to produce Win32 applications,
what's wrong with Java byte codes? Infact such defensiveness only
undermines benefits of software from reaching a wider audience.
