Re: Au Revoir

Hey Thaths/Junta,

I do not if you knew I was tracking LIG - but yes, I've been
just simply reading the archives @ wilma/lists.l-i.org for awhile
now. I am not sure what to make of your email - But I just see that it
spells yet another bad happening for the open source movement (yes, I
believe one _does_ exist)

First of all - Thanks for the seamless operations for all
these years. I have hardly, if ever, experienced glitches with the LI*
lists, or the web front-end and the software powering all these has
always been life on the breaking edge, while you've maintained them
ever so stable. (mj2,wilma,woody,...)

I am strongly of the opinion that you should only take a
sabbatical and return as list admin, after 2+ months (which you most
decidedly deserve) and not just "resign" and quit like so. I am not
sure who else could : a) supply bandwidth/infrastructure to handle
this volume of email b) setup scripts AND monitor them, putting lotsa
man-hours on a daily basis tracking -bounces and whatnot, just to
ensure others do not suffer c) be interested in being list admin. d)
be completely impartial, and not participate in flames and yet not be
a BOFH.

I would nominate the following people, for the post of
(temporary?) list admin, in no particular order of preference: Arun Sharma,
Raju Mathur, Mrinal Kalakrishnan.

Of course, I do not personally know Raju or Arun that well. I
do not know any of the other "big names" AT ALL - gopi garge, udhay,
biju ... et. al. (That is why they have not been nominated - It is not
that I have anything against them. I simply dont know them, that's all)

I also recognise that this are *completely* my *PERSONAL*
opinions, and I have not asked/referred/consulted/talked to any of
Arun/Raju/Mrinal ... I do not know if they even remember me. But I
think they would make fine list admin's over-all, by what I have seen
of them/their work/actions over the past 3 or so years, that I have
been following the linux movement in india. Also, I do not know if
they will be busy with their own work, or if they are interested in
this job at all. I have just absolutely no idea about how they/you/the
list will react to all this - but my personal opinion is that they
will be a good team to begin with.

Also, I do not know if this makes any difference, but I will
be glad to offer my services, if needed, in whatever way that is
possible. Obviously, I have no infrastructure to setup anything, but
if you would like me to manually monitor anything, or help with just
about anything else, I wouldn't mind helping out.

	Thanks for everything,

	-ravi.

P.S: I re-subscribed to LIG after ~1.5 years, only to make this post,
just so it doesn't bounce mails from an un-subscribed mail id to a
now-resigned-List Admin ;)
