tamil kde 2.0

hi!

i am an engineering student doing my cs in one of the tamilnadu universities.i have been working to get tamil environment in kde 2.0 for the past few days.

i have set the ttf fonts like aparantsc, sritsc and timetamiltsc and tscii fonts like sritsc,mylaitsc,tamil_avarangal,tscakaram in font path of both the environment kde(/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts)
and kde 2.0(/opt/kde2/share/fonts).but still i am not able to get the tamil fonts listed in the general, desktop icon, file manager, toolbar menu, window title list in the font list of kde 2 control center.

the other works which i have done is:
i have set the ta.kimapin the kikbd directory of kde(i.e)opt/kde/bin/fonts.and also in kde 2 font directory opt/kde2/share/fonts.i could see the fonts being selected by using XFONTSELECT application but not anywhere else.
i feel happy that these fonts r well set in kde envi/
and its working well in editors.i have set it in kde using
    xset fp+ /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts
    xset fp rehash
but it does not have the same effect in kde 2.

i have also worked with ttf fonts using xfstt.its excellent.

so i would like to know from you the exact procedure of including the correct tamil font in the preference->look&feel->fonts dialog box.i would also like to know the type of font used in kde2(or exactly which font)(whether to use tscii;unicode encoding, ttf font, or any iso 8859-1..).do we set the encoding to iso 8859-1 or unicode in the country&language settings.
i would be happy if i recieve reply from u as soon as possible so as to proceed in the right direction.

waiting for ur early reply
priya
