In this context at least, this link is on-topic to LIG (at least, IMHO).

OpenP2P is a much better idea for sharing _knowledge_ (an extension of LI-* and
the irc.linux-india.org #linux channel).  Real time data exchange (a howto doc,
a small code snippet etc) is a quite real possiblity here, and might be more
efficient than using DCC across an IRC network or attaching the thing to an
e-mail.

I'd still not trust it enough to get and install software by such means, but
YMMV of course.
