Re: Re: Re: setting up mirrors

Atul Chitnis rearranged electrons thusly:

Now that you have finished responding to Raghu, *before* you start on me, let
me make things a bit clear:

1. I am not impugning the technical competence of you and other members of
Exocore. I consider that Gopi, Biju, Shanu, et al are extremely competent
linuxers and an asset to the linux-india community.

2. What made me oppose you on this list is your trying to play politics and
manipulate the course of LIH on this issue.

The examples you mentioned as a reason for a "central committee" (e-mail
addresses on a shared server, downloading MP3s, "this guy also happens to be a
member of ilug-timbuktu" ...) etc are all fairly familiar to anyone who has
been observing various Indian LUGs in the recent past.

Any attempt to rake up the embers of these old controversies in reply to posts
which advocate a "hands-off" policy for the local LUGs in the running of these
mirrors cannot but be construed as a blatant attempt by you to manipulate the
course of linux-india and play politics.

This is generally true of members of any and every organization, so your
question is largely rhetorical, and can't be answered except in the positive by
an executive of the organization concerned.

Ummmm... this thread is the first time Raghu has posted to LIH in a _long_
time, as far as I can tell. This is not to say that I condone his posts
against Biju though (I don't, for the record).

Finally, you, as a person, are welcome to threaten to sue me for saying that
you are attempting to play LUG politics. I'll make it easier for you - check
out "defamation", "defence of truth" and "defence of qualified privilege".
http://www.spawn.org/marketing/slander.htm should help you, I expect.
