Or the *far* above average universities like the IITs.  Last I checked (a
couple of years ago at least) they were on a 9600 bps leased line at IIT-B.

There *is* a profit, you know - what you implemented as a kludge in your
original pre-alpha product can become some really elegant code in the hands of
somebody else - you benefit by having a much better product to use.

Aside from the satisfaction, of course.
