Re: Free Software Company

I agree with Robin that if free software is better then it will show
itself. Coming to Linux particularly, what is required is a logical
approach. eg i was once trying to install Openlinux (slightly older
version). I came to a position
where i had to choose between "yes" and "no" buttons. Since i did not grasp
the full implication i decided to go by the default . Sadly i could not even
identify what is set as default - yes or no . Using reverse video to set the
default confused me quite a lot . Moving the arrow keys only
allowed to wrap around and i utterly lost sight of the original default set
in the installation program. In Windows there is a neat dotted box
indicating where the flag is set . It doesnt require great programming
knowledge to know what is easier for the common user. Am i required to see
the source code to know what is the default set at that stage in the
program? Even in the latest Linux we have miniature diamond shaped buttons
where we have to peek closely to know where the flag is set. Linux must set
its priorities correctly. It is not the question of money alone. The
decreasing popularity of Linux as an NOS in India revealed through PCQ is a
pointer which we can hardly ignore.
