lilo problems

Hi,
I have trouble installing newer lilo boot header over older one. Here are the
details. Did somebody face similar problem.?

Well... First my partitions (oops I mean my HDA's partitiaons...)
    /dev/hda1 31MB /boot
/dev/hda2 Windoze.... (I am gonna remove
this in a few days)
    /dev/hda3 ~4GB / for RedHat 6.2
    /dev/hda4 extended
    /dev/hda5 / for redhat 7.1
/dev/hda6 Windoze mostly songs (must convert to
reiserfs)
    /dev/hda7 ~4 GB /music under both RH 6.2,7.1
    /dev/hda8 128MB swap
    /dev/hda9 /usr/local under both rdhat 6.2,7.1
    /dev/hda10 /home under both rdhat 6.2,7.1

    now my problem...
Well rh6.2 uses lilo 20.x while rh7.1 has lilo 21.4
when I type $ /sbin/lilo it works correctly on rh 6.2 updating the boot
sector...
however on rh7.1 it bombes out saying the boot sector is version 20.4. Can't
write version 21.4 (something similar)
how do I overwrite old lilo boot sector with new one.
I want to get rid of rh6.2 cause 7.1 has now been configured by me as per my
needs, but lilo under 7.1 does not work on my system.
PS : /etc/lilo.conf is the same for both systems and is correct.
lilo is one thing I can't live without cause I always keep my kernel latest
and keep a lot of kernels with different options too

I know I can install the old lilo rpm from 6.2 dist, after uninstalling a new one,
but is there a better way?
