Network card not detected

hello everyone,

I've been trying unsuccessfully for the past
couple of weeks to bring my  D-link card
Digi-5500 TX FAST ETHERNET card 'UP' in RHL 7.0

When I use

1.ifconfig -a eth0
the output is
> > eth0 : error fetching interface information : Device not found

2. ifup eth0
> > delaying eth0 initalization
The output is same as what I get in dmesg

i bought this network card from nehru place (recently)
it works perfectly ok under windows so I know the the card
exists and is working fine
but cant understand why is the above happening
i need help!!
