Linux in Schools

Hi Sandip,

Brilliant idea. You can count me in too ..... if u can do with an
amateur
with a lot of contact. I might be the perfect example of the students u
r
planning to deliver to. I have just passed out of school which would
surely
welcome me and my friends specially if we have something to offer on
computers.

I am from Naval Public School, Chankyapuri. Incidently some time ago
before
the school closed for vacations me and my computer teachers were
planning to
arrange
an introductory class sort of a thing b/w students, teachers and Linux.

What i feel is not only students (irrespective of their stream) but even

teachers could benefit from Linux. I proposed a "Free School" concept
which
was gladly accepted..... though i haven't find time to bring it closer
to
life.

Your idea of convincing teachers and school authorities to host us does
not
only end there. We also have to convince students to come up to Linux
and
listen to us. "Why Linux?" most of them will say. What then. Giving them
a
presentation and a guaranteed running system does not help. More
discussion
on the meet.

Schools in UK which started using Linux a couple of months back now have

students coming up with ideas and programes to improve the current
system.
Even students who could not afford to buy a full fleged system could now
do,

with dumb terminals, what other kids with latest computers could.

Though i might not be a Linux guru, i can and would definately convince
students to start using Linux.
