ScannerQues for 2.4.0&++ Guys

Hii,

In a few days I will have to configure smoe usb scanners 
I am told that they are the one's in the supportted hardware list
any pointers to how to configure frm any one who has done so
are welcome.
so that I don't waste a lot of time trying the wrong way
