installing RPM

I am using Linux Mandrake 7.2

I downloaded a rpm db3-3.1.17-1mdk.i586.rpm. My rpminstaller complained that
"only packages with major number <=3 are supported by this version of RPM".

So, I downloaded another version  - this time
BerkeleyDB-2.7.7-5mdk.i586.rpm. And I still get the same message though the
major number is < 3 this time.

I am using "rpm -Uvh" command to install the rpm.

Can you tell me what am I doing wrong?
