'Sup with VSNL???

Just been trying to reach ne of the VSNL servers but they all seem to be 
down.....no ping results and all ftp requests being turned down as "host not 
found". Also the mail servers aren't responding either.
I did this after one of my friends complained that she is not able to run 
nething on the net except for messaging services.
Ne idea 'sup?
