SMTP question?

hi all,

   has anybody ever send a mail directly using raw SMTP by using its
commands?
   i am having a problem ..
   i can send a mail easily but the subject line and the data never reaches
the destination.
   a simple blank mail reaches at the desination .
   please comment r share your ideas on this .
