thanks a lot for the useful info. I have lot of damaged floppies, (one or two
sectors within the first three sectors bad) DOS refuses to create a filesystem
on such floppies. It expect the first few sectors (I think three) to be good
inorder to successfully create a file system onit. But ext2 expects only the
first sector to be good to create a successful file system. Hence eventhough
it is not possible in DOS to use the floppy, I am able to use it with
ext2.
