How to configure sound card

Hi,

Any body could please tell me how to configure a sound
card.  I am using  RH6.2

when I gave

# sndconfig

I get the following message:

A PCI sound card was found
Model : ESS technology
unknown device : 125d:1988 - not supported.

I also want to know how to install a font and how to
set up a JDBC, odbc connection.
