hi,

in the present avatars, the compressed kernel is placed in arch/i386/boot
directory (or arch/alpha/boot etc etc); look for the zImage or bzImage
file in that directory and copy it out to vmlinuz or whatever to wherever
it needs to be. the docs say not to use the vmlinux file found in the top
level directory (/usr/src/linux) but i have successfully ran gzip on the
vmlinux file and used the resulting file as the vmlinuz boot image.
