Modify your inittab entry for single-user mode to prompt for
the superuser password instead of directly dumping the user into a
root shell. (This is the default on Debian systems.) NOTE, that there
exists a way around this hack, but it's a bit more obscure and works
with LILO, not sure if loadlin will comply :-).
