That has changed a little with potato (for the poor non-Debian users'
benefit: potato is version 2.2 of Debian)

There is an /etc/network/interfaces file; and it has examples for many
ethernet combinations; dhcp etc.,
I am currently on the other OS :-< So I am unable to send a sample.
