How do i apply a patch on a kernel and rebuild it????

Hi!
thanx !anyway i extracted the bullet before u sent the mail!!!
i would like 2 know if there are any persons there who have rebuilt the kernel
with patches for configuring as a web server.
i had some problems in applying a patch that i had d'loaded from lonux-virtual
server.org
is there any other file that will have to be co-applied along with the
ipvs-9.* series of patches???
on recompiling the prompt is "hunk x not loaded!!!!!!!"x=1,2,3....
and the recompile aborted.
