AFAIK, XFree86 3.3.3 onwards support this...
Havent ever tried out.
But had planned to buy this for my home system sometime back and had found
some newsgroup postings on this. www.deja.com will be helpful, if at all
it doesnt work with 3.3.3 or higher.

Also, try www.xfree86.org. 

ps: havent heard of a book on this, though :-)
