Hi!
Thanks for your reply. I tried 
/sbin/fuser <file name>
and got the message "file not found"
I have to specify the path of the file too for it to work. But then, there's no output. (I had kept the file opened in an editor). 

I need to do something just the reverse. Given the application name (like kwrite) and a caption (file name), I need to determine the file path. How do I do manipulate the various options that come with fuser?
