hi
thanx ravi
but that didnt solve the problem
the ifconfig|route only gives details like
127.0.0.1 and the port no of the ethernet card
it does not say anything else about where the
error maybe
FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHERS:-
my problem is that i hav 2 computers which i want to
connect by a coaxial cable with ethernet cards and
the works..complete
i am having a problem trying to configure the
network.---the cards get detected on each machine
individually but i cant ping the other computer
however the lights (green) on the ethernet card
just stay on for 1 second or so and then they stay
off
maybe there is a problem there????
HELP!!!!!!
the wierd thing is that the network does get
setup in windows-- maybe due to windows nt's
autodetection feature.
so i still get host unreachable when i try to ping the
2nd machine
i shall be looking at some manuals and asking a few
people in college
it would be helpful if someone out there also
suggested some sites for troubleshooting
or even some books.
lastly-- are some cards meant exclusively for unix
and some for windows?????-- i kno this sounds
dumb!!
bye
