MySQL and C API

Hi,

Do you know how to install C/C++ API for MySQL RDBMS.
I have my MySQL in /usr/local directory.
Where I have to install my C/C++ API?
Can you give me code for Add,Delete,Update database through C/C++ API for MySQL? Please give me the details of Compile & Linking options.
