Splash Logo at Startup

Hello ,
	I am new to kernel programming and this i my first post to this NG. When I 
recompiled the 2.2 with vesafb support a TUX with a beer jug appeared. How is 
this done? Can I put for instance a photo in place with TUX?

Any help will be most welcome
