Promiscous Mode

Hello all,

 I have installed the last version of Linux that had come along with PCQ
 v6.2 ) in my labs
I am currently trying to run my machine in promiscous mode but after some
time the machine
hangs. Also even if the ethernet card is put in promiscous mode, it dosen't
seem to capture
all packets from the network. ( i have a class C type network ).
I also have a sun machine installed on the same network and snoop on that
machine works fine.
Please let me know if putting the m/c into promiscous mode will suffice
capturing all packets
on the network or some thing else also has to be done.
