Process management

Hi,
Does any one out there know of any system call using which the root can
claim a process to be his own.
i.e. If someone is running a shell. Can the root change the owner of
that shell to root.
We happen to be working on a project to remotely suspend user sessions and
I think that if such a call exists, I can use it.
