I think ur switched off M/C without giving shutdown command.am i right????

  When you are dropped to the shell, run fsck on 
your partitions. Generally
saying yes to all fsck questions is a good thing but you may do
Run fsck with theses options:

# fsck -A -V ; echo == $? ==
