For Unix/Linux, see man pages on rmt and dump. Essentially ,
you need to specify the tape dev in the following format -
user@host:/dev/...
Since rmt uses rsh , you need to make sure to have the
usual hosts.equiv or .rhosts stuff.
I have taken many GBs of backups to remote tapes
using rmt between various Unix flavours.
