  fix your /etc/resolv.conf
  make it look like this

search satyam.net.in
nameserver 202.144.10.50
nameserver 202.144.13.50
----cut here----

  make sure all users are able to read the file...
  man chmod , chown
  alternatively , use wvdial / xisp ...
