Please refer monitor's user guide and make appropriate changes in the 
/etc/X11/xf86config . You must be able to get 16 bit color in 1024x768.

  I have IBM 300GL with S3 Trio3D(86c366)  and IBM G42 monitor .
  Resolution is very bad.Any idea??
