Note: Matrox 3D acceleration only works with 16- and 32-bit color
palettes. Also, 24- and 32-bit color palettes both have 16 million
simultaneous colors, but the 32-bit color palette lets you use 3D
acceleration and can offer better performance when playing AVI or MPEG
video files.

Is that so? I thought that the mpeg files etc were shipped in
16 bit colour...
