The latest version of mtvp has support for Fullscreen (NOT ZOOM) I think its
-f or -F or so. This requires SDL. Also you will have to have a 320x248 or so
modeline in your XF86Config. 

This give FULLSCREEN by switching the Screen resolution to the one nearest to
the mpeg 1 standard. This will in all likelyhood give you the best performance
achievable on your m/c.
