I don't fiddle much with kernel code... but AFAIK (correct me if I am
wrong) the following files contain the code you are looking for -->
/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/kernel/setup.c
(Hint: Use grep on the source when in doubt ... I did a grep for CPUID)
